Things to Know About Concrete Sawing

Concrete Visions Concrete Sawing

Concrete sawing is the process of cutting, drilling, and removing concrete, asphalt, and masonry.

Concrete sawing is the process of cutting, drilling, and removing concrete, asphalt, and masonry. Construction companies that repair, remodel, and develop buildings find concrete saws vital. A concrete sawing project includes making a new pathway for your garage by removing the old slab and many other examples. Here are a few more basics that you should know about concrete sawing.

The Equipment Used for Concrete Sawing

The equipment our field mechanics use for this application is concrete saws. These electric or hydraulic-powered machines with diamond-coated blades effectively cut through concrete and other building materials. Like a tiller (used for breaking hard ground in large-scale projects), these saws are handheld, or mechanics can walk behind them.

Various Types of Concrete Saws

  1. Floor: Used for cutting horizontal, flat surfaces such as concrete floors
  2. Track: Creates openings in floors, walls, and other structures in tight spaces
  3. Wire: Used for complex, large-scale projects where track saws don’t meet the project’s requirements
  4. Ring & Chain: Compact and handheld saws used in limited access areas
  5. Deep: Typically used in pavement repair or removal projects

Two Main Concrete Sawing Methods

  • Wet: Water controls the diamond blade’s temperature to prevent overheating. Water also minimizes dust production, ensuring the precision of cuts.
  • Dry: A diamond blade with a toothed rim design keeps the abrasive blade cool and less susceptible to dust buildup. Diamond sawing experts make a series of cuts to achieve the desired cutting depth instead of utilizing a single cut. This method prevents the saw from overheating.

Why it Matters to Hire a Professional

Concrete sawing is by no means a DIY project. When someone untrained carries out a diamond sawing project, low-quality results can happen. In addition, a novice can damage an entire structure. Even worse, an accident can occur because of unsafe practices. As we always say, safety isn’t a goal but a requirement. It would be best if you never jeopardized accuracy or safety.

Concrete Visions’ skilled technicians can perform concrete sawing most accurately and safely. You can trust that our team knows the correct saw to use and will deliver optimal performance for each project. Allow us to bring your “concrete visions” to life today by giving us a call.
