4 Tips for Construction Safety

Construction Safety

Concrete Visions cares about your safety. Here are some ways to keep yourself out of harm’s way.

There are countless things that you need to worry about when you are working on a construction site—the budget, whether or not the project is progressing on time, which workers are present, and how the project itself is looking. It’s very easy for construction safety to get lost in the shuffle with everything else. When it comes to construction safety, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Here are four of our best construction safety tips to keep your job sites safe.

Adequate Fall Protection

Inadequate fall protection is the most common violation that many construction sites throughout the country are cited for every year. It is also, unfortunately, one of the most common causes of construction worker death. When visiting a construction site, make sure that all workers are familiar with the different fall hazards that are present. If fall protection systems are not yet installed, no employees should be present on the construction site.

Check Your Scaffolding

Especially on larger projects, almost every construction worker is spending at least some of their workday on scaffolding. If you are working on scaffolding, you are regularly exposed to the risks of falls, electrocution, and falling objects. Every worker on scaffolding should wear the right footwear and hard hats for safety reasons. In the event of bad weather, no construction workers should be on the scaffolding.

Pay Attention to Ladders

Ladders are another one of the most common causes of death for construction workers. Ladder falls on construction sites are often caused as a result of the wrong ladder being used, an improperly secured ladder, or a construction worker who is trying to carry things along with them while moving up or down the ladder.

Training is Critical

Construction safety starts before workers ever visit the job site. First, all of the workers should have adequate construction safety training relating to the tasks that they’ll be tackling.
